Huser Edition of Paracelsus
Regarding the transmission of Paracelsus's writings, the autographs of which are completely lost, it was very fortunate, that Johannes Huser (c1545-1597/1604) had at an early stage collected a great number of autographs and copies of them. So he was able to bring out the complete medical and natural philosophic works of Paracelsus, which appeared in ten volumes in Basle from 1589 to 1591. He prepared a further volume with the surgical writings, but because there were competing editions in Basle, this tome was not to be published until 1605 in Strasbourg, which was after his death. Huser had exercised great care in editing the original wording, so we can assume that we have a very reliable text.
